Hello all, just joined this forum, been following HowToMakeMobileGames for a year now, it inspired me to start making games for mobile platforms [smile]

I'm from Targu Mures, Romania, I've seen there are other romanians here which is nice [smile]

I made 2 little games but I made only 2 $ till now [tongue] I didn't advertise at all, no marketing at all, and the games are very unoriginal, so it's ok.

Currently I attend college and I'm working on a 2D oldschool RPG, a remake(not exactly remake, just similar gameplay) of one of my favorite childhood games Mordor The Depths Of Dejenol.

I have a development blog, check it out, you can find an alpha webplayer and android build there:

Working all by myself, it's really hard. At some point I had an artist friend who said he will help me but he bailed out... Now I have to learn some art too [tongue]

I'm interested in monetizing it too, what do you say is the best option for a big game like this?
I was thinking of putting a free version with the first 3 levels, and putting the full version for a price. Or should I go with ads and IAP?

checked it out, cool stuff! one note to get more people to check it out, throw one  of your pics of the ui in here, the art in there make the game seem more polished than the one you posted above. I was surprised when i saw the nice ui in your blog.

All the art is from OpneGameArt, so I take no credit for that [smile] I have 0 art skills... And the coding of mechanics is almost done, so I need to start learning some art xD
I'll put a GUI pic too

Hey Tillrobby. Great to catch you on here. It's good to hear you've been following the channel for some time. I've met a lot of friends through doing the posts on youtube and here, really enjoying it [smile]

The game looks good from the screenshots you've posted here. I know what you mean about doing it all yourself too. Don't worry about this, if you're game goes well then you can hire artists to work for you. For about 3 years I did almost everything myself too, including art work, and my art skills are terrible haha.

I think for monetization you should include a coin currency perhaps and then players can buy packs of coins for $1, $3, $10 etc. But this depends if your game style allows it. If not then you can get players to unlock content for a price or include ads in the game such as chartboost or admob.

For art though you might be able to do a pixel style which is quite easy to achieve. Personally I think old school pixel art looks great and there's plenty of tutorials on it.
I did a pixel art video on the channel, check it out.

Keep us updated on the game and post some new screenshots as you go. It'll be great to see them.

Hey FD_Games. Hope you're doing well there.

The SLAYZ art work was done by a team in China. I don't know the artist directly unfortunately.
However I did work with an artist who created the art for the SUPER BIT WORLD icon and all the MONSTER MALL art too. I've put some images below. I don't know if she's available but I can mention you are looking for artists and put you in touch?
