That is looking great, keep it up [smile]

I just checked your website, lots of games and a lot of downloads. As they are all free, do you make a living doing this? - if so, how, with adds or in app purchases?

I'm completely new to all this (well, coding, I'm a 3D artist), and am just taking the plunge myself [smile]

Cheers,

David

thanks Drael, I really appreciate the encouragement.

no not at all, this is a hobby. I work on this at night. I don't make much yet. although my other games haven't had a tonne of effort put into them like this one has. Fingers crossed it's well received at launch.

hey FD, nice post. I'm interested to see how the downloads go when it's live if you are ok to post them.
I'm thinking that rpg games will have a longer retention with players and therefore would improve the ranking.

Hope it goes good on launch

I also did a bit of an overhaul on the battle system, gave it a bit more of a plants vs Zombies feel to it. I'll have a post soon about that.

@FD_games - great update man. I like the character designs. The background and UI still looks quite basic. Will you update it before release or plan on publishing it and polishing it with each new version?

Yeah I think an RPG really takes a lot of time. The menu, battle, system, maps etc. Really big project.
Eventually I'd like us to do some kind of world building game similar to Japan Life or Clash Of Clans. also very large projects. We're not at that stage yet but its a good goal for us to reach. These games do a lot better ARPU as well since players invest a lot of time in building their worlds.

Keep us updated on your game, cool thread [smile]

Thanks for the feedback Martin, if anything i was under the impression that it was my characters that needed a lot more work and I liked the backgrounds and most of the UI, my beef with the UI presently is the icons, I'm not 100% set on any of the art style right now, and am constantly fiddling around with it. I do like the minimalist style to the borders and windows/ segments as well as the general buttons minus the icons. I may try it out during alpha and beta testing and see what the userbase has to say about it.

Right now I'm definitely focusing more of my time to the coding aspect of all the intricate systems and the UI handling. I'm hoping to have a game system in the end that can just be a content hog where I can just keep adding more items/monsters/skills to in order to keep the game alive and the users coming back/ retained.

I'm definitely not at the stage where I should have done this either [tongue]. I constantly reflect back on it while I'm doing it thinking... " think about how many smaller games I could have churned out in the time I've spent on this". I'm too committed to this now though, and my wife reminds me that this is what I enjoy playing and doing more than anything. I can't help but feel as though I'm putting all my eggs in one basket here though. I think while I give it a month or so to see if it gets a fanbase at all I'm going to focus on updates and some other small games on the side.

been a little while since I last updated but I've been busy taking care of the last few features for BETA and some more bugs.

I just released A Slime Story's BETA build and am actively looking for BETA testers now. If you would like to try a casual arcade like RPG for android send me a pm with your email address or head on over to fixeddicegames.com and add your name and email to the list yourself and I will personally send you an invite to join. The only way to access the BETA build is to be invited presently, it may be opened up more publicly in the future.

Here's a link to a gameplay video of the first quest I recently put together:

Hey Guys,

I finally released A Slime Story on google play today. I'm a single developer working on this in my spare time, but am planning on continue to update this monthly as times goes by. I Was hoping you guys could try it out and give me some feedback and if you like it give it a +1 or review [smile] thanks!

you can Download the game here:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.fixeddicegames.slimestory

Also I put this trailer together, wondering what you other devs think of poking fun of your own games in trailers?
