Hey guys,

So today I submitted a new app to the store. Some time later I received an email from Google saying my submission was rejected because of a metadata policy violation. In short I had used a (popular) brand name in my apps' full description. ('based on the famous ....')

Now, I know that what I did was wrong. It actually was a bit of a gamble and it has already been corrected. But honestly, what I find somewhat shady is that I can find hundreds of (recently updated) apps violating this very issue. In fact, a couple even used brandnames in the title, screenshots as well as descriptions and even have that very same line ('based on ....'). Why aren't they taken down as well?  Surely, any new submission (even an update) goes through the same evaluation procedure?

Hi mobidus! I've also recently had experienced this issue: what's worse is that the email us always very generic/ doesn't say what I should change just ( screenshots/icon/description) - it really seems to depend on luck and on who is reviewing the app. I'd really like for there to be an "approval points" system where you can pay $$ to buy points which allow the app review to go better.

Google play is crazy sometimes. Ive seen the same thing many times. These days I don't risk anything at all when it comes to publishing our games on google, but then I'm still nervous they will cancel our account for some random reason. I know how you feel.
But as a rule of thumb, definitely stay away from using any famous brand names or images in your game on any of the app stores.

In the past month I have uploaded two apps. The process was fairly straightforward and apart from the above mentioned issue went without any problems. I did notice there's a new app signing feature that I have yet to try. You can opt to not use it (which I did). I'm curious to read what other people have learned about this new feature.
