Hey All,

I'm pretty new to the app business so I wanted to play around and test the waters. I have a mediocre slot machine reskin uploaded to the App store and created my first campaign. I created a campaign of $100 for North America using dynamic CPM. I ended up paying $126 for two installs? I don't understand what went wrong. Are people just not interested in the app or am I using the wrong campaign?

Hi TehScrub,

I'm not expert on AppLovin advertising but when I advertise on Chartboost I select only genre what my game is. For example in your situation when you have slots game it will look like this ... see attachment. Did you have this option to select in which game category do you want to advertise? 

Also you have to be very careful with CPM campaigns as they have to be monitored very very closely. CPM is not campaign which you can setup and forget. CPI you can setup and forget, but CPM here you pay for impressions and ad network will give you as many as possible impressions as they will earn more money. It is their plan to take all your money as quick as possible in CPM campaign if you don't restrict them.

Specific targeting and campaign optimization is super important when it comes to mobile ad networks.
