Hi guys,

We are using Chartboost on our games which CPI is really good.

Unfortunately Chartboost  is not paying for impressions so we want to integrate one more ad network for impressions only.

Any suggestions?

Thanks
Steve

Hey Steve. I think admob also pays you for impressions shown because they include google adsense ads too and advertisers will sometimes pay for impressions only. i'm not 100% sure on this though so please take a look on the admob site or do a search on google. I know for sure though that you get paid if a user clicks on the ad even if they don't install the game from the ad.

Chartboost is awesome though yeah [smile]
We also use applovin.com ads and we'll need to test out the chartboost video ads soon too.

Hope this helps

Hi Martin,

Thank you so much for your reply.

We have test Chartboost new video ads and are not so good as banner ads performance (see screenshot). We are using Adcolony as well which ecpm is really low too ~$3.50 so we are planning to test Flurry for video ads soon.

What about apploving, get paid only for CPI like chartboost?

@steve, are these video ads incentive based meaning can we give user coins, unlock features for showing video ads?

@javaexp, you have both options. Just play video (interstitial)  or rewarded video.

Wow, $0.08 for 3 installs thats super low. It looks like those are incentivized clicks / installs because the minimum price an advertiser pays on chartboost for 1 installs is $0.5, so the developer gets about $0.35 I think.
Or it could be that the video clicks are just CPC, cost-per-install, which is where the advertiser pays for a click. The minimum cost is $0.04. So it looks like showing video ads gives less revenue because its CPC, CPI (cost per install).

Can anyone confirm? I've not set up video ads yet with chartboost.

@Xhidnoda - I posted some applovin stats at the link below. Hope their useful:

Hey guys, just to clarify chartboost video goes on a CPCV format. ( cost per completed view).

I contacted chartboost and they told me they pay around $0.02 per completed video which is great for me - a $20.00 epcm compared to a $5-10 epcm on static intersials.

I might do a dedicated post on chartboost video but I can confirm it pays a lot more than intersials and a lot more stable since it is on a per view basis.

Yeah I'm trying Chartboost video ads, what Epic says is correct - it's nothing per install or click but paid by every completed view and that seems to be about $0.01-0.04.

You can choose whether the user can skip but this seems pointless because everyone is just going to do that? So I force the view.

I am concerned that users are going to drop out of the game rather than watch a 15sec ad, especially if they aren't engaged yet. So I'd be careful when and how often to show them.

One of my games made $16 last week and served 5,300 impressions. If those had been video ads and every impression led to a complete video view, assuming $0.02 that would have been $106 so $90 better.

BUT I imagine the ratio of impressions to completed view isn't 1:1 and I also reckon the video ads will damage your retention a lot more than the normal ads. Both because players are likely to leave your game because the video ads are annoying and because they're more likely to install the new game as the videos are so much more effective at converting users.

I'm running the video campaign for a couple of days to see what it does.
