I really try do figure out how to do this but its very hard.

I think i found out that if the players stays longer in the game and uses it multiple times, google gives you ads from better patners who give higher RPM or sth. because then you got users which are more likely to spend money on games / are more engaged in mobile games.

But still admob is a big mystery for me :/

EDIT:uploading with youtube's iOS up seems to be taking an impossible amount of time (and the video is only available there) - I'll record a newer, and less rambly video sometime soon and upload it the good ole way

Its really nice how you made all that apps from the 1 runner game source code, like martin also mentioned, reusing code speeding up the progress of making apps a lot ! [wink]

How mutch hours per day/week do you spend on your mobile app business ?

It also would be cool to know in which part of the ukraine you live, i hope not in the eastern part^^

Yes, this actually came about organically / out of laziness, or as I like to call it "conservation of energy" [biggrin]

no worries-  I live in Kiev, here the internet is good and everything is normal/ like any other east european city (except for the economy, though working in this field makes me sorta immune to this)

Thanks! But here's the thing though - I'm not "against" coffee - it can be really awesome, just that sometimes (like it is the case for me now) I find that taking a "vacation" from coffee is great/revitalizing, I do plan to continue drinking coffee in maybe some days/weeks - I do advocate sleeping 8-9 hours (as I always do) as not doing so for a prolonged time decreases willpower/concentration/motivation etc. Especially for "full time" enterpreneurs - if there you don't get enough sleep due to "lots of work",  you definitely doing something wrong / are missing the point.

then again-  everyone knows "himself" best and what works for them, so one should experiment with fine-tuning his/her own life experience so it's the best

Maybe the other running game developer forgot to use time.deltatime, so if you got a newer tablet it will run faster [wink]

Great video! Are you going to be able to track the IAP revenue from the users get the locked game and also the ad revenue from the users who are unlocked in your experiment and be able to determine which one give better earnings? I would automatically think that the unlocked version would give better user retention, but what really  matters is which one makes more money for you. Unless your trying to build an audience.

Since most of your games are running games have you been doing cross promotion in your games for your other games? If so do you use house ads with a particular network or do you have your own ads?

Hello XdebugX! In terms of tracking the actual revenue for both user groups, this could be tricky since it's a single app (now that you mentioned it, creating, say, 2 apps in chartboost for the same app but different user groups can be worth trying) - BUT,  I do track the amount of "started games" (each time a level loads) for both user groups, and this I believe to be correlated to the ad revenue, since my ads are on the game over screen. The experiment was only started this week, but twill be interesting to see the results - it's really easy to pre-suppose these "intuitive" answers, but as I progress, I want to test out as many of these assumptions about what keeps users playing as possible (and display them in my videos, of course) - for example, for the current test one can make assumptions for both cases:

A. Users will play more if everything is already unlocked (as you mentioned), since there is more content from the start, and will get annoyed by/not want/not understand how to unlock the levels, for example, and think they have to spend real money for that

B. Users will play more if they need to collect coins/ unlock stuff, since this will keep them "engaged / moving towards the goal of unlocking stuff"

I want to see if the cat string theory applies here (if you dangle a string in front of a cat and keep moving it away the cat will be interested (at least for a while), where as if you just drop it in front of the cat it will loose interest)


EDIT: Now that I think about it, "some" users may behave like A, and some like B - still, the above test is just as useful since we want to see which type of user there is more of, and make the apps accordingly

Hi Hello World v.2!  I actually hope my newer ones will get higher downloads, since I recently discovered a niche [smile]  I hope to make more game types in the future, but in the current months it's a very quick return on investment to make these

Was it possible to use Admob with your game on Amazon ? Because last time i used Admob on amazon i couldnt upload the APK because it says that its wont work on nexus devices, changed ads to unity ads and then it worked fine, but still would be cool to know if its possible [smile]

Why do you have duct tape on your screen button ?^^

Btw. you cant be invisible to these guys^^

from what I understand you can't use it - I use chartboost & applovin - my apps do have the admob plugin though (even though it's not used) - submitted an app recently through one of my associates and it wasn't an issue

cause the button is so bright/distracting! Which asset?
I did not remove anything - as I mentioned in the videos I use several accounts now, so this might be the cause of the confusion

Oh, I try to use as much from the asset store as possible/ find as much premade stuff as possible, however often there is still some tweaking/adjusting to do to make sure together everything looks nice.

Nice video! I think it's easier for drug dealers to launder their money than it is for you to get your legitimate earnings in Ukraine lol. You mentioned before about a company that would handle the paperwork and transactions for you for a fee, did that not work out?

Hello XdebugX! Yes, sorry - I should have provided more details - the other company that I mentioned is still an option, however I now found an accountant that is knowledgable about receiving payments from google / works with entrepreneurs, and there the fees are much less, also I think the previous company wanted a small percentage of the profits, so now I'm placing my bets on doing everything with the help of this new accountant I found - here the fees work out to roughly 35$ per year for accounting fees (yeah- I know, a crazy small amount now that I think about it, but due to the inflation in Ukraine/ the devaluation of our currency, this is now about 1/4th of an average monthly salary in Kiev) - also the tax will be 4%, so in total, 35$ fees per year + 4% tax is actually a great deal for entrepreneurs, even with all of this "hassle", assuming I get everything working

I cant really advice on vr cause i haven't even published before, but i think game dev shouldn't expect vr to be has successful as mobile, come to think of it you can only use vr gadget in your free time at home, cause it will be wierd to wear a vr gadget in bus/subway or even during work break but you can definitely find time for mobile even at work. Although they will be some game success but it only going to be kind of one time hit of a thing. 3. it been long since you posted anything about revenue, how is your current monthly revenue.

4. About the flying car, i think there is more to such types of low quality apps with high download cause the guy has a lot of reskins of his flying car and i don't think such people spend money on marketing, maybe he use incentivise download in order to get organic downloads but what am certain of is that the guy used a lot of fake reviews and it obvious reading his reviews and he alse did ASO but the real truth is that

cause if your app is crappy i will just play it a lil bit and never play it again or even uninstall it,you will keep getting downloads but revenue will never increase.

Thank you! Yes, these are much quicker to do also-  it's great if I just have some general thoughts and don't really want to show anything visually - I'll keep switching between the two based on the subject matter

I think he was referring not to my apps specifically but the general types of apps most of us make - the small apps that people play for a bit but that don't have much lasting depth to them

well, I think that with with all of those downloads, he must hopefully have some strategy / revenue - since I doubt he is doing this "for the fun of it" I must deduce that somehow he is indeed earning money from this - even if it's shady, I'd still want to know the full strategy - after all, if it will earn us thousands of dollars (and stay safe at the same time) I think it would be great

1. the point you made about reskin, i think it is unavoidable, one way or the other one must surely use part of one's previous project and i think for reskin to make nice amount of money, it really depend on the type of game. sorry if i didn't grab alot of points, i was kinda dizzy when i listened to the update.
2. It's quite normal for a programmer / developer with a job to gain weight but we just have find a way to fight it. What i do whatever am alone in the room coding is this.
once in a while / whenever am trying something and it's not working out, i stand up, pick any small object around (e.g toy) and i start throwing it up and catching it while working randomly in the room, with my attention not focus on the object but instead i meditate on what i want to achieve. I know it's wierd, but it just an habit i developed along time ago and it works, i kinda what to stop cause sometimes i loss focus and throwing and catching have want to be my form of meditation whenever am alone,but i have not yet discovered what else to be doing.
the best habit i think on should have is the habit of controlling one's mouth.

Yess, sorry, I may have been a little vague on this - my general point was that there should be a balance between deciding "making this reskin is easy" vs "it will bring in much money" (  I just recently discovered that maybe I overlooked this and was more of a self-observation,  by no means saying "don't make reskins" - it's still the main tactic)

Good job going independent! Congratulations.
Regarding the podcast - it was cool, a little weird due to all this talk about what's going on the screen [smile]
I'd add a downloadable version, don't know about other people, but it's my favourite way to listen to podcasts on a phone.
