Big thanks Yuryi for posting this 😉 I just got back from the trip and couldn't believe what i see on stats! I really hope this is a bug related to similar apps section (as mentioned in Unity forum thread it's crazy to think how many of download comes from relevant 'similar/user also installed sections') and it will revert back soon..

Thanks Yuri, very helpful video as I'm currently doing a game with some violence, seems Google is "improving" their app review team, specially involving contents for kids, I've got two apps suspended this week that I have to made some slightly changes to be approved again, they are online for about two years!
But is always like that, we have to adapt and keep the ball rolling!

Hi Guys! So I was able to update the app - google sent me the below image as the problem image with violence. After changing the screenshots so that the characters aren't pointing guns directly at each other, the app was approved.    The rules seem to be different depending on the game type - for example if it's a strategy style game where there are many characters running at each other / pointing guns it is still ok, just not for games where you control the character.   Violence1.png

slight addendum: at 6:57 I mentioned the ability to sell IPOs after about a week- here I meant the ability to lock in your profit by means of a forward contract or by shorting an equivalent amount of stock ( a bit technical, I know), since you can't actually sell the IPO stock till the lock up period expires

Hi,

Thanks for all your insightful videos, lot's of great information.

I'm curious on what your thoughts are on the following things

(a) Privacy policy, you have a pop up in most of your games that you get the user to agree to, BUT, I've noticed absolutely loads of games ( lot's of new ones as well ) don't even feature a privacy policy anywhere that I can see, is it even required anymore ?

(b) Rate Us, what are your opinions on asking a user to rate your app, again, I used to see this quite a lot, but seemingly absent from most new games coming out, is is 'not cool' to ask for the user to rate your app anymore ?

Would love to hear your opinions on this ?

it is still required - those apps are at risk of getting removed

I personally always use the Rate Us thing - however I never show it immediately/only after the user played the app for a while.

Regarding the privacy policy, the games that I have noticed that do not have it, usually have it on the store listing only, just not in game, I suppose my question is, is it necessary to have it in game, or can I just have it on the google play store listing only, would google flag my game ?

I did hear that some games got banned because of this, so I think it's kind of a lottery. Personally I prefer to be on the safe side, but seems many games just have the privacy policy link in the store listing only.

Hey BestGamesStudios. Great post.
This is really the reality now with mobile game publishing and its why im no longer working on mobile games and publishing them. I think its great that you are now researching into stocks and trying to make money in that area. 

There are 3 major points to the app store business model which I really don't like after years of experience:

1) As a developer we have no control. The app stores can remove our games, change the algorithm and wipeout a game / app business over night.

2) There are way too many games / apps on the stores now. It's over saturated, and quality does not always rise to the top.

3) Users do not pay for app / games for the most past. The market is now educated that apps and games on a phone are FREE. I remember my brother a few years back saying something like "I would never buy a mobile game, but unless its yours since you're my brother" 😃 lol. And this is true for most phone users.

Im also very unlikely to use Steam to sell games as it faces the same business model problem. Here's a great video talking about recent steam stats (mid 2018)

Hi Yuri,

Thanks for your insights, about your slow mac mini, if you have a fast PC you can install the macOS on a virtual machine like VMware, I used to publish some apps in the past before I've got a macbook pro.
