Hello! You can use mine as an example:
http://bestgamesstudios.coolpage.biz/privacypolicy.html

(just change the list at the end to the ads/other plugins which you use )

- I also add the policy into the game itself, though I don't think it's a requirement at this time

Hey all. We also got this notice from google for all of our games. I panicked at first because it was about 20 emails which all came in at the same time across all of our accounts.

They said in the message that we also need to include a link to the privacy policy in our games. This is a big problem because most of the projects are old, and a lot of them we don't even have the original unity project for. Does anyone know if we really need to include the privacy policy link in the game because our games don't even collect any user data?

We will send a message to google too because its completely insane that we would need to add this at such a late date after the games were published.

Google Play gives me headaches and nosebleeds lol.

Martin

Here's the original message from google:

Hello Google Play Developer,

Our records show that your app, KILL RAGDOLL STICKMAN 4 : CASH, with package name panda.kill.ragdoll.physics.four, currently violates our User Data policy regarding Personal and Sensitive Information.

Policy issue: Google Play requires developers to provide a valid privacy policy when the app requests or handles sensitive user or device information. Your app requests sensitive permissions (e.g. camera, microphone, accounts, contacts, or phone) or user data, but does not include a valid privacy policy.

Action required: Include a link to a valid privacy policy on your app's Store Listing page and within your app. You can find more information in our help center.

Alternatively, you may opt-out of this requirement by removing any requests for sensitive permissions or user data.

If you have additional apps in your catalog, please make sure they are compliant with our Prominent Disclosure requirements.

Please resolve this issue by March 15, 2017, or administrative action will be taken to limit the visibility of your app, up to and including removal from the Play Store. Thanks for helping us provide a clear and transparent experience for Google Play users.

Regards,

The Google Play Team

Hey martin we had very same problem. Its not big deal. What i did is copy rovio's privacy policy and change some points like developer company name and location contact details and add it to listings page. And its work. Real problem is unity change our manifest.xml add READ_WRITE_GPS permissions.

I've made a simple privacy policy text on my site. I think it is good enough. If anybody wants it...

We do not collect or store any information on your use of our apps and games.  We do not track your usage, location, or any other information which would tell us who uses this app.  Once our applications are installed on your phone, they do not communicate with our servers in any way.
For our free applications and games, we use different ad companies for mobile advertising. This is how we make money.  We do not sell any information regarding our users.
We strongly believe that you are entitled to your own privacy. We will always respect your privacy.

It seems to be the READ_PHONE_STATE that Unity engine ads during the build process so you cant remove it from the manifest file.

You can rebuild it in eclipse and remove the permission or ad the privacy policy.

Any news about adding privacy policy? Do we have to add link in games/apps also or just in store listening. I lost keystore for one of my games so i can't update it anymore and since it is my most downloaded game... I have a problem. I've added privacy policy link just in google play dashboard.

Hi Roman!  Google only seems to harass people without the privacy policy in the store listing for now, though I personally in the games themselves just in case.
btw, regarding keystores/not loosing them, I have a practice of creating a "keystore" folder in the unity project itself, and in it I have the keystore and a text file with the password

I have tons of Unity projects on my computer.(more then 100Gb) Sometimes it's hard to keep everything clean, but since I lost my keystore, I am storing them in every project with password.

I use the same keystore for all my apps, with multiple backups. Is it a bad policy to to use the same keystore?

lol since we are discussing on keystores
I have 100K and 50K install apps for which I lost keystore files. The ad network mobilecore.com that I used in the apps has shut down and not serving any ads. So these are free apps with no ads which is shameful for google. What I can do at the most is remove them from play store. Not even bothering about privacy policy for these apps.

Hey guys. sorry for the late follow up to the thread. i just did a video on this a few days ago in the Pro Section.

For us we are going to update the top downloaded games in our old account, about 5 or 6 of them, and add a privacy policy link in the main menu. We will also add a privacy policy to all our games in the store listing page.
The other games which we won't update we will probably un-publish because the downloads are so low anyway. I would prefer to keep them live but I don't know if keeping them live will cause warnings from google. This is for our old account, for our newer accounts we are just adding the privacy policy link in the store listing but not updating the games. This is because the downloads are so low anyway for most of them.

Its such a pain though that the highest downloaded game we don't have the project for, S**T :s
It was built about 2 years ago and I forgot to get the project from the developer after he finished it, so we can't update that one. We might keep that one live and just add the privacy policy link in there.
But we will also email google and tell them that we don't ask for or use any private information from any users. We will see how this goes. Our older google account brings in about $1500 a month so I really don't want to lose it.

On the other side, it might be a positive thing because I assume a lot of games / apps from in-active devs will get removed and that means less competition for devs who are still managing their accounts.
I'm pretty worried about all this to be honest. Also because our new VR focus just isn't getting anywhere at the moment.

We have been considering also doing some outsourcing project work too as an extra business model. I'm wondering if you guys have experience in this area. Is it quite hard to find game projects from clients??
If you want to discuss or if you are looking to outsource a project to us you can email me on martin@cobaltplay.com

Happy Developing guys [smile]

Hey guys. just an update to let you know that we've just unpublished all the games which google said needed a privacy policy. We're updating about 6 games which are our highest downloaded ones to include a privacy policy link. So lets see what happens over the next week. Will google start to remove millions of other apps and games? Will it mean less competition on the store? Lets see.

This could be dangerous, Google has suspended accounts before for noncompliance even in games that are unpublished or yet to be published! Don't mean to make you worry because I doubt they still do this, but I'd do whatever I could to stop it. Maybe proactively email Google and explain that the games are unpublish some you don't have keys for etc.

Here's an article about the privacy policy by one of the advertising networks, Tapjoy. https://medium.com/tapjoy/avoid-the-google-play-purge-390404dfd088?mkt_tok=eyJpIjoiTUdaaU5HWXhNekpqWWpBMiIsInQiOiJ4OXJWTTJ3ak95Q3pJK3ZlM0FTN1k4U2xBMzRQb3Z0dkYxQzhLVVN0bjBHRFh3V29MMkpjQ20wcUxyclwvSFlvRHlaOWh4cTdlNUR5RUExd3lnaEtOSXg4UlwvdzBTMWw5blhKc2d5TjNuZmxueHI0bW1TYThSb0JRNWxqb1FESTlYIn0%3D#.uc5ra4rmh

hey martin i'm sorry i think you have bad time these days. one month before Googleplay warned everyone to about this privacy policy problem. They said add privacy policy link to store page or remove requirements before 15 march. If you have not keystore It's simple bro what i did is create privacy policy page and add it to store page.

I think there is some debate still as to wether a privacy policy link in the store listing is enough. The notifications seem to say you need the policy in the app itself. Like all these updates from Google you don't really know till they start banning people.

hey guys. hows your google play accounts going after March 15th? I've not heard of any apps / accounts being banned after the privacy policy deadline. I've also not seen any major change in our downloads after this date too (apart from having to remove a bunch of games from our account which we couldnt update). I'm wondering if this was just an empty threat by google or if they need to go through each account one by one :s

Thanks for the heads up and the example privacy policies.

I was playing a game the other day, which also had a terms and conditions page as well, is this another must have requirement, and if so, likewise, does anyone have a good example T&C text, the few I've seen online are stupidly long and seem mostly irrelevant to what I would need ?

I don't think and T&C is a requirements to put inside the game, just a privacy policy is needed for google play apps as fast as I'm aware.
