Hello there,

I am new here and have been reading the forum for a while. I am a small time game developer from India and have been developing for mobile for the past 4 years.

I am making decent amount of money for the past 4 years and I am not in a state to advice but I can tell you a few things I have learnt.

You will be able to make a lot of money by making any kind of games you want but it's all about audience retention Applicatios tent to make more money than games in most cases because they solve a problem but games are simple entertainment so the longer the user is interested in your game the more money you make (I think this is a very well known fact).

I will tell you a simple breakup of the game dev cost for a Fighting Game I'am currently developing and as a side note I have developed more than 8 fighting games like this.

The Cost:
CORE: UFE Bundle = $299 (We bought this when it got released and we still use this).
CHARACTERS: Stardudes Modular Character Pack = $39.99
ENV: Sci Fi PBR Level Kit / Space Station = $49.99
UI: GUI Kit Yellow Kid = $10
Icons : Sci-Fi Skill Icon Pack = $10
Mobile Controls: Control Freak = $10

TOTAL = $419.97

Apart from this I use assets like ScreenshotHelper, Google Analytics and some assets when needed.

The cost listed above is the cost from the asset store as of today and I don't remember exactly how much I paid for them when I bought them.

We have been working on the game for the past couple of weeks below are some screen shots for you to look at.

We usually finish till version 1.5 and release the 1.0 version so that we can update it every other week with new stuff.

We will soon publish the game to Google Play / Amazon / iOS stores.

and if possible I will update this thread with the revenue it makes and stuff.

If this thread is a bit vague then please ask your questions and I will answer.

This is a nice Community.

Nice post, very informative.

Your game looks cool, I've got to say I don't know much about the fighting game market - they aren't really the kind of games I play or have done much research into. I agree that retention is key to making money, that's certainly what I see in my stats. High downloads are great, but if they don't stick to a game, the most you can hope for is a bit of ad revenue.

I spend a similar amount on my games, I've got a lot of assets in the backlog that I bring out when needed, but generally I'll buy about $300-500 worth of assets for a new game.

How are you planning to monetize your game?

Currently Using ChartBoost and Applovin, Applovin has not been good to me so far with some other games so will change it a couple of weeks to HeyZap.

Looking nice! - reminds me a bit of nintendo 64 games.
Will be interesting to see how this game does - you obviously put some good effort/costs into this

Control Freak buttons just seem small in the editor.
