Hey everyone,

I have started to develop mobile games in Unity a few months ago and now, with a few apps in the Google Play store with few downloads I decided to try the other App Stores.

However, I recently realized that maybe AdMob is not going to work on every store because it is based on apps from Google Play.

So I am here looking for advice from people that are more experienced in this business.

Here are the stores I am considering at the moment:

Google Play -> AdMob + Chartboost

Amazon -> AdMob? + Chartboost(do I have to do anything different or can it be the same apk I used in Google Play? )

Opera ->  Chartboost? + ?

Mobango -> ?

If anyone can shed some light on this I would really appreciate it. I'm sure a lot of people need answers for this as well.

Happy Developing!

man, 1-2 ad networks support app stores except play store. Either you use app store specific sdk like amazon ads, slideme ads, samsung ads etc. Lots of work right to create app store specific apk?

When I contacted mobilecore support, they tell me that most of the users using 3rd part app stores will also have play store installed on them with exceptions being amazon devices and countries like China (where play store has less penetration)
He advised to use same apk as play store for other app stores except in amazon and in china. The ads by most of the ad networks take the user to play store and if the play store app is not available on device then expect no monetization from that user.

Hope that helps

Don't even bother uploading to Opera. You'll get 1000 downloads per day for first week but not even one ad impression. They fake download numbers.

Opera just bought AdColony so you might want to give a try with their ads.

"This just in: Opera has confirmed that it has acquired AdColony — a deal that we had reported was in progress a couple of weeks ago but AdColony had denied (albeit in a very carefully worded fashion) was happening. The deal was made for $75 million in cash, plus potential earnouts of $275 million that bring the deal up to $350 million, according to a statement released to the Norwegian stock market, where Opera is listed."

They sure not operating with fake money [smile]

As I said those downloads from Opera are fake. I get around new 500 downloads at Chartboost every day. Opera detected 2730 new downloads. There isn't any change detected in Chartboost.

What is the norm for ads on Amazon Apps ? Chartboost + What?

Thanks so much for all the replies so far!

Hey Namm, this is a good questions. It's something I've wondered about too. We did find some revenue generated using chartboost on the Samsung app store but the downloads were not very high.

For Amazon app store we use Chartboost and Amazon ads. There's a good plugin we use for unity to show the amazon ads which was easy to get set up since amazon doesn't have a unity plugin on their site for ads. So far the amazon ads have been quite good. Check out this post here I did showing the revenue:

http://howtomakemobilegames.forumchitchat.com/post/overall-revenue-per-day-100-on-chartboost-25-on-admob-18-on-applovin-7-on-7025149?pid=1283858386#post1283858386

@Roman, wow that's really good info. Thanks for posting it. I believe the same happened to us. It reported we had good downloads but then we didn't see any revenue in our admob or chartboost account for opera. It's great to know this. Have you seen an increase in downloads / revenue over the weekend?

By the way, I've moved this topic to the Developer Questions section.
