Intro:

This topic is going to be about me, developing a phone game on my own from scratch. I'm going to post every single line of code and artwork here (copy whatever you want, I wont be mad when you "steal" my work, I actually would be glad!).

Gameplay:

The game is going to be in portrait mode. Different kind of viruses are going to spawn on the screen, which the user has to destroy by holding down 2 fingers to charge a circle which is growing larger the longer you press it, but attention!, when a virus touches the circle while growing, you will lose!.  Once you release one finger, viruses can not destroy you and the circle will have a different color. You will also be able to move it around. When the last finger has left the screen, and one of those little viruses is inside the circle, they will be destroyed!
If you didn't get this, it's okay. My English isn't the best and google translate sucks, but you'll get it with the upcoming screenies!

EDIT:
The gameplay is not that easy and fun with these controls. I might switch to a "one-finger-input" to make it better.
I was thinking about the player being a "good" virus, and the player's virus follows the finger input, the goal is to eat all the other ones.

Skills required

- Photoshop, gimp, or any image editing software
- At least OO c# or Java programming
- Know your way around the Unity3D's scripting documentation and Unity3D itself (duh)
- The ability to swallow 3 cups of coffee an hour without going to the bathroom.

I LEARNED EVERYTHING ON MY OWN, IF YOU THINK MY CODE/DESIGN IS BAD OR COULD BE BETTER, PLEASE CORRECT ME! WE'RE HERE TO LEARN!

I'm sorry if this is not going too fast, I actually only have a few hours a day if I'm lucky!

Currently I'm going to work with one type of virus. I'm not the greatest designer but these fellas look kinda cute. [smile]

"Download links coming soon, this forum won't accept .psd files [frown]"

Those "suckers things" (top pic.) are animated to make them even more attractive.

The "Bouncy" Material in the 2D collider is created by doing "Menu in unity, Assets - > Create -> Physics2D material". You can adjust bounciness or friction there!

I created some particle effects to make 'em look cooler!

hey nick, this sounds cool. Interested to see what people think. I'll share the post around on facebook too as it progresses.

I think I get the concept from the design notes you mentioned. It'll be good to see it in action because in writing it always sounds more complicated. Your english is no problem though [smile]

hey Nick. Nice update.
I like the look of the particle effects, and the character looks quite cute too which should attract extra downloads.

You're using the new unity particle system or the legacy one?

I really need to learn how to use the new sprite and collider system. My mind is still in Unity 3.5.7 land haha.

If you can please upload a youtube prototype video and post here. That'll be great to see.

hey Nick, thanks for posting the videos. very cool explanation of some of the 2D features and particle system. I really need to get to grips with unity 4+, I'm falling behind because I've not coded in so long :s

Hows the game going anyway, is it playable now?

Chat soon

Hello Ray,

I kind of quit this project due the lack of future ideas. I never really had an endgame for this and will work on it when something crosses my mind. But if you have a few good ideas I might pick up this project again [smile]

Currently I'm working on Arena war, you can take a look, its in the same section as this [wink]
