Hi, ppl in this forum.
I want to know how many downloads can I get If I want to spend15K$ on marketing ? should I spend them all on the first day ? my campaign is going to be CPI. what is the best ad network for that? I contacted adbuddiez and they said that their minimum bed is 0.70. And I should raise it in order to get better traffic! that's too much. I'm looking for 0.30$ bed ad network. how's chartboost? any experience ?

Hey Mohammed,

with this budget you could reach the top if your app is good, you just need to plan a smart marketing campaign. For 30 cents you can get rewarded downloads; depending on the app, they monetize as well and, always depending on the app, the retention can be not bad.
Anyway, this kind of downloads are great to boost the keyword ranking, which will generate organic downloads, always assuming that you have a good product with great graphics and ASO properly done.

Let me know if you need any help

yes, I really hope this forum doesn't turn into makingmoneywithandroid

as for the actual question, I doubt anyone here will be able to answer it, as I don't think anyone here actually spent anywhere near that amount of cash on advertising (though if there is someone I'd love to hear your results) - I'd personally prefer to buy an apartment with that amount.

Hi, bestgamesstudios.
Maybe there are developers who did. It doesn't have to be close to my budget. Looking at some results might help to estimate one thing or another [smile]

Yes, I'd love to know this also - Martin recently made a video about paid advertising for his app - however the amount was much smaller. Also, I think it will be hard to tell on such a small sample size- I think, if he somehow had an access to statistics like "100 people with apps invested X amount in ads, and then their results were listed in terms of profitability" then we'd be closer to something objective.
I'd maybe start with trying out with a smaller amount to "test the waters", but then again maybe this small amount wouldn't be representative- really hard to say

Hello Mohammed,

I would recommend AppBrain as well.  Although they have a bid system and the higher you bid, the quicker you can get downloads, you can still get some decent amount of downloads depending on the country you are targeting.  For example with the hardest country, the USA, I was able to get 500 downloads in about 10 days.  So if you are trying to target another country, you may be able to get more downloads for that country.  Their minimum bid is $0.20 and that's what I paid.

For incentivized installs, there are a few companies out there.  1) ayeT studios and 2) cpimobi.
I'm not sure how much I would recommend cpimobi and I don't know that I would recommend dumping a whole lot of money into incentivized installs in general.  The retention rate for incentivized installs is usually not real good.

Incentivized installs are good if you're trying to "boost" your app in the ranks for the first 30 days.  Depending on the category and country you are trying to rank in determines the amount of installs you would need.  But overall, I would recommend making incentivized installs "part" of your campaign strategy.

There is a guy over at the MMWA forum that is offering a great deal of $0.03 cents per install for a 1000 installs.  I did use him when he was only able to deliver 500 and I was pretty happy with it.  I did have him turn off the "recommend to rate" in his incentivized application because I'm paranoid.  I also paid $0.08 per install, but he is running a deal now.
Here it is:

http://forums.makingmoneywithandroid.com/buy-sell/28812-%240-08-per-app-install-incentive-limited-time-offer-4.html

I'll have to try to think of other campaign marketing strategies.  I hope this helps.

Regards,
Rick

Hi, Rick.
It's really impressive to get 500 downloads in 10 days in USA. 0.20c for real cpi is awesome. saying that I will pay 0.50c might allow me to generate 4000 intalls in less than five days just from appbrain. Am I correct ? that's good to get this number in android even though I'm targeting iOS. But, do I have to integrate their SDK ? If so, then I can't.

You don't have to integrate the appbrain SDK to advertise through it, you also don't have to make creatives which is useful.

Remember, though, that the desirability of your game is going to have a big impact on the amount of downloads you get if you're paying to advertise to real people. I make niche games and struggle to get a good install rate on my games through advertising. When I last used appbrain it ended up costing me $0.35 an install and I only got about 60 a day at that price. The quality of the audience wasn't great (lots of tier 3 and below users) and I didn't see much of a change in revenue despite the additional downloads. It has given the game a slight organic uplift though, so it might have been worth the money.

I'm not criticising appbrain though, they're great, just be aware that how appealing your game is to download is going to have a big impact on how much you end up spending on downloads.

Hi Grumpy,
yes, of course I should be careful. Now that I read your comment. I'm gonna spend 500$ just to test the water. Once I receive 1k downloads, I'll see how things will go.
