Hey everyone,

 

I've seen some Sample Assets from Unity where there is a character that is moved with a Joystick and the Mobile Input is already implemented. 

Now I would like to know how I could set this Controls in a character and actually make them work. I already tried to use the prefab from Sample Assets but while it shows and moves the Joystick, it is not moving the character.

 

Has anyone done this before?

Hey NAMM, I've seen the scripts but I've not applied it to a character before.
But I think you can just put the characterController script on to a game object which has a rigidbody, and that will make it move. I remember you can import the character controller from the assets menu, it comes free with unity. 
Here's how the package contents look

I think you can drag the '3rd person controller' or '1st person controller' in to a scene and take a look at the game object. It should have some of the control scripts attached and then you can see how it works.

Or perhaps you can import the 2D assets package. It contains some control prefabs and the test scenes too. So you can drag them in the scene and see how they are set up, or just look in the test scenes to see how they did it:

Sorry I can't be more specific with this but I haven't used the assets in a while. If you figure it out please post back and let me know, I'm interested to find out because it makes prototyping very quick [smile]
