Hello everyone

I recently make a simple 2d game for android using Unity but when I see the size of apk it was about 55MB and my game have just 2(two) scenes. Then I search for "How to reduce apk size in unity " I found some tips regards my search and apply all those tips I reduce apk size from 55MB to about 40MB but in realty my game deserve 12MB to 20MB. I know in this forum about 95% members developing in unity I hope you will give me right tips for this issue. That I get deserve size for apk.

Hey Abdur. Good question, I'm curious about this too. Our small 2D games come to about 55 MB.
I think an easy way is to purchase Unity Pro and you can strip out a lot of the unity libraries. I don't know how much this would reduce the file size though as I've not used it before. Anyone have experience with this?

I'd suggest unzipping your apk file and checking what takes the most space.
Unfortunately that's the biggest issue with using such amazing game engines - the libraries just have to take space, even if you don't use the full potential of the engine.
The only thing you can try is to not use some of the bigger ones.
Form what I remember system library dll takes like 6 MB, so if you use it it will be attached to the game (you use libraries by adding "using" statements at the top of your scripts.
Also keep in mind they can also be used by some plugins you added, so it's not only your code you have to worry about.

I just read unity  5.6 release note. About apk size they says
  • Removed armeabi (ARMv5) binary for Android which was only used by very old devices, AGK now requires ARMv7 or greater on Android. This reduces the APK size by about 4.5MB

But its not enough.

once you've made a build check your editor log , you'll have all details about what goes into the apk over there as well as many other details . from that point you can start to strip or compress down files or resources that are taking up too much space .

@Laurel I already try this tip it's just show which asset take most size. my question is how to reduce size of apk

Laurel's tip is really useful, you can't work out what you need to reduce unless you know what assets are taking up space.

If you want give us the text from the log and I can give you some pointers. Typically it's image compression that's the issue, so if your textures are using up a lot, reduce the quality of the images.

HI Roman 

Thank you for sharing this asset link. I think its work same is "Editor Log" as @Laurel post.If you see asset screen shot there is "AmbientCube" which show 4.50MB size what its mean its take 4.50MB size at disk or will increase 4.50MB size of APK. If its increase APK size too How to reduce(compress) it.

This asset will also help you find models with a high polygon count in your scenes. I am sure that the main problem in big apk files is in large images or in audio files.
