Hi Martin! I noticed in your youtube video, you said you were looking to hire someone for Oculus/ VR development.  Do you think there is money in this - I really love the concept. Do you have any strategy?

Thanks in advance!

Hey BestGamesStudios, thanks for the post on here. I'm sorry for the late reply. I only just seen it now.

We hired someone to begin our mobile development now, and we also finally received our Oculus Rift.
I do think there is money in this, but only when it become main stream for the consumer, i dont think right now. But i think this is a good time to start and get some great apps / games in to the market. I'm very interested in the Oculus Home Store for Oculus and samsung Gear VR, also the Steam store. We're developing a game now and I'll be doing a video on it soon to talk about the strategy, development, goals, and monetisation.

I'll post more on this soon for sure because its very exciting. Are you also starting in this area?

Thanks for your detailed reply! Well, we received a dk2 at work (I am employed as a 3d artist/animator/Unity3d developer and I made a prototype app for the Rift, and I started making my own android apps a while back in my spare time which, through admob bring 150-190$ per month currently).

I really like the "idea" of the Rift and developing for it, however I'm not yet sold that I could make more money using it than through android at the stage I'm at (meaning I haven't yet started my own company/hired people, and have a limited amount of time per week).

speaking of which, I have a video request (I know, you started your paid channel thing but hear me out) - I'd really love a story of how you got started creating your company/becoming an entrepreneur, your transition from an employee to employer

thanks for this fine forum and for keeping it spam-free and clean, unlike the "other" forum where people talk about making money using android.

Yeah we'll have to see how the Oculus Rift goes and if it's a good eco-system when it's released next year. Im hoping that there will be more VR app stores too dedicated to particular devices, such as the Samsung Gear VR store. This means we'll be able to get in to stores which are less crowded hopefully.

Sounds like a good idea. I'd like to do a video on becoming an entrepreneur in games. I actually thought about doing it last year but never got around to it. I'll try to get a basic video done telling my story. I'll post on the forum when i do.

Catch up soon [smile]
