Gradius 3 on the SNES has some great retro tracks by Konami.
I particularly like this game because I played it quite a lot in 2013 in Shanghai, always trying to beat it on hard mode. It's impossible, at least I thought so. This guy is awesome and I love that he recorded it on betamax, old school style [smile] So it's not an emulator recording, its true hardcore.

I couldn't believe how far I was from the end too. It's a lot bigger than I thought and I those later levels look so hard. The biggest hair-puller with Gradius is when you lose a life, you also lose all your power-ups :s This is a nightmare if it happens at the wrong spot. So its almost as if you only have 1 life to complete the game because if you die once in the later levels then you can kiss your chances good bye.

Enjoy the video and music [smile]

A few awesome tracks I came across recently in this longplay video of UN Squadron. I don't think I ever played this game but I love shoot'em ups.

Im a big fan of Geometry Wars and the 3rd edition looks awesome. I've just been watching some game play videos, makes me want to get a new PC just so I can get it from Steam [smile]
The soundtrack is pretty sweet to. Here's the full playlist link:

youtube.com/watch?v=qyeU-t-wCLs&index=3&list=PLIq54biSJa-JkOtg1Pmih9qasq0WwSMgm

Some of the tracks remind me of Tron. If you like electronic computer music you'll like this.
Enjoy [smile]

I remember first seeing this arcade game in Blackpool, UK. It was advertised as the biggest arcade game in the world, and it so so awesome to see [smile]
It was a massive screen with 6 gun turrets and amazing sound. It felt like a cinema experience. I caught it on youtube the other day and the music great too. Just feels like the 90's so much.
It was a laser disc game, so all the background is just a movie and different tracks are played depending on what happens. All the ships and lasers and blasts are real time I believe. Very interesting to see how they put this game together. It's very short but works well as an amusement park arcade game I think.

Enjoy [smile]

Awesome tracks. I love the Donkey Kong ones. One of the best compilation soundtrack videos I've found for SNES.

I came across this game called BLEED a couple of days ago when it was mentioned on the Cinemassacre channel. I love the style of this. The retro feel and music are just awesome and time slow mechanic looks like a lot of fun. I'm enjoying just listening to the game play video in the background. Enjoy [smile]

You cannot, I repeat, you cannot beat the classics [biggrin]
I believe it was a Japanese woman who composed the music for Street Fighter 2.

These tracks are not really classics I think, and not amazing either, but they hold huge nostalgic value for me. I played Moto GP a lot when we first got Xbox Live setup on the original Xbox. It was just tonnes of fun playing the Moto GP demo game which just had one track. And giving people smack talk online for the first time was amazing lol.

And Moto GP 2 main menu music:

Sonic on the Master System was my first Sonic game. I remember being really upset that it just wasn't as good as the Genesis version. I was trying desperately to like it and make if feels better than the Genesis version in my mind lol. I think this was because I had played the Genesis version before the Master System version. Overall the master system games were just not as fun, i don't think this was down to just graphics.
But this version of Sonic really brings back some memories and i always have a strong feeling of nostalgia when listening to it, good stuff and good soundtrack [smile]

Hey Jake. Nice add [smile] Yeah this is a great classic soundtrack. I remember seeing this game in the arcades a lot when i was a kid. It always felt good to watch because of the bright sunshine theme of the game. I didn't have any money to play it but i just liked watching the demo play over and over, lol.

Enjoy [smile]

I still really enjoy the music from Zamzara, an old c64 game I used to play a lot. I think that old computer had a great sound chip for its time.

Also really enjoy the music from Turrican 2 for the Amiga. A real masterpiece [smile] Think I even recorded this on a cassette tape to play in my walkman haha

Hey Vaabenhus. Awesome tracks, thanks for posting. I hadn't heard the Turrican soundtrack before, very cool.

Yeah I really like C64 Sid Chip music too. It's really an art form in itself and amazing how composers were able to produce such complex music from just a few basic sounds.

Gonna listed to them more during work tomorrow [smile]

It's definitely not a retro soundtrack but i absolutely love it. The Wipeout series was one of my favorite set of games to play when i was growing up through the 90's. I loved loved loved them. The style, the design, the game play, the SPEED, and of course the music. I remember being so blown away when I first played the Play Station 1 at my best friends house and saw the intro for Wipeout, oh my godddddddd! that was so awesome. I was addicted and just ended up playing the free demo version which came on a magazine disc over and over.

Here's the full track. I made sure to post one which included the intro music [biggrin]

This track is bitchin' lol. I just had to include it.
It's from THUNDER FORCE IV which I believe is an arcade game originally.
Check it out and do some air guitar [biggrin]

And here's the track from the Mega Drive (Sega Genesis)
