Hello guys,

im 18 years old and a programming student in austria (not australia).
I have some questions because im not very experienced with this topic.

Im about to finish my first Game, im just making another flappy like Game which i didnt find on the amazon store like i want to make it, so i thought lets do it. I guess integrating Chartboost is not that hard and i think i can manage that. So my questions are more about how to get paid?

I noticed that it is possible to give amazon my bank account information for IAP and these kind of stuff, so im wondering how they pay out and what do i need to do to get payed out (taxes and bank stuff). I have no glue about this.

And for chartboost, im not really thinking im going to make the big money but, i want to start with this business while going to school. I am aiming to build a good portfolio of apps, to get better chances for working in a game industry and also seeing a little bit of money and learning about stores, revenue and so on.

I decided to go first with the Amazon store because its free, and then move on to Google Play a month after my first game launches, because i am not having so much money im not really looking forward to get an ios account.

My main question is: if im transfering the money from chartboost to my paypal account and then to my bank account, which steps do i need to consider, or are there better alternatives.

Sorry if there are some spelling or grammar mistakes, i guess im enjoying my summer holidays to much [biggrin]

I hope someone can give me some tips and advices, and if you guys know stuff what i need to do before launching tell me.

Thanks

First of all earn some money! And with your aproach it will not be so easy, money transfer is no big deal direct transfer on your acc or paypal and from there on your acc.....there are some transaction fees to pay. And yes maybe it sonds harsh but i dont think you want be able to make any money with google play this is a waste of time if you aint got 50 apps or so. Apple App Store is the place to be if you want make some money and chances are far better then on Google Play.

Good luck!

Thanks, i was expecting such an answer, yes but putting apps on IOS is expensive.

I would need a mac for this i think, so i guess it would work if im just asking some of my friends to upload the games to ios store? Im not really an apple fan [biggrin]

IMO the most important thing when you're starting out is just to try and launch something no matter the platform. You'll learn a lot about the process and this will save you time (and money) down the road. Don't worry about money or downloads or whatever, just launch things and learn from it. It's worth plugging in things like Chartboost and IAPs, just to understand how they work. Try and keep your costs low, don't expect to make money to start with (if you do that's great) and slowly start building up as you learn more about game development and the app stores.

Just my opinion. [smile]

Well good luck now with google play im not an apple or android guy butt from a point of a developer it is a little more expensive butt it pays off. Im telling you this becos i started like you and google play gave me nothing special its a big place full of junk with no order at all. On the app store even small developers get futured. I got a friend he got in two apps over 6milion downloads on the app store while the same apps on google play have a lil bit more over 1000 downloads!

And yes you need a mac and a dev acc 100$/year!  But you will earn 100$ a year in wich town do you live in Austria?

@Grumpy

Hey mate thanks for the reply, yeah thats exactly what i am going to do, im really not expecting to make money, but i'll want to learn this kind of stuff and build some portfolio for my future, and if there is any money ill be happy [biggrin]. My main focus is to learn something, and impress some friends, family and my programming teachers [tongue]

@risbogames

Im living in Linz, Upper Austria. Yes,100$ are not so much but, i am going to start slowly so im totally fine with Google and Amazon, and if i learned enough stuff i'll consider using Apple's Store. Because for now im not even thinking about to get an Apple account.

Thanks for the Replies Guys
