Hey

I have been researching Unity Ads as I was thinking that they will be a good source of revenue. Its amazing what you can find out spending time on this. I was skeptical about using them as ive heard about their unreliable/unpredictable ecpm. My research came to a stop when i found this forum post https://forum.unity3d.com/threads/reaching-5000-impressions-all-rewarded-videos-0-6-ecpm-really-low.394996/

For me, they seem to have a very complex approach of working out how much to pay you. So with this system being too unpredictable and not having enough precise data.

I thought i would let others know and i'm not basing my choice to not use them based on this one article, I've found loads of the same case stories. If anyone has had experience with them and could turn my opinion around then please let me know.

Hello Nick,

I gave a try to Unity Ads in one of my games with <500 downloads and it was really good for me. With a small amount of impressions I saw the eCPM of around $8 which was really great to see. So I am releasing a newer game soon and see how it turns out against the rewarded videos as it has tons of places with rewarded videos.

Here are my stats:

Impressions: 242

Revenue: $1.85

eCPM: $7.64

However this might not be helpful as the data is on much smaller scale. But I hope it stays the same.
And now that you've mentioned it I might investigate the issue as well.

Thanks,

Ajwad

I consistently get over $10 eCPM with them for rewarded video ads. My eCPM over the last 7 days is $14, and with my last launch I was hitting over $25 eCPM. I would highly recommend them, especially if you're working in Unity. I do remember that when I was serving a low amount of ads a day the eCPMs were a bit weak, but I've been getting a good eCPM from them for well over a year now.

Worth noting that the quality of your traffic and how engaged your users are with your app (often less engaged players will produce a higher eCPM) play a big part in eCPM. I imagine every Ad network have their horror and their success stories, the best way to know if it'll work for you is just to try it. [smile]

Oh thanks Grumpy, very insightful information. Sounds good from what you said actually, maybe you are right in saying that there are too many bad reviews about all services.  When you say often less engaged users will have a higher ecpm, i have read about this and its best to show so many ads per session and have time restraints inbetween and also something about timing from the first launch of the app. Do you apply anything like this to your games?

Thanks

Nick

They have not polished SDK for Android. I see a lot of crashes. [frown]
