Hi guys.

It seems that some plugins have WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE permission.
From what I've read it might be possible to remove it without loosing the functionality.
Has anyone tried that here?
Access to data doesn't look too good in the permissions section and might put some people off.
I've noticed it's used in chartboost, unity ads and everyplay.
Apparently it's only needed when you access data outside your game and unityads is using it to share cached ads between games that have unityads. Not sure about other plugins.

BR,
Bartek.

Write External Storage is actually a pretty common permission for a lot of apps. It's not as bad as it sounds. Most apps use it to save something to the internal or sd memory. I don't think it will be a problem for most people, they are probably used to seeing this permission.

Yeah, I ended up adding it back, everyplay didn't work without it.
Also don't install unity 5.1, it adds read phone state permission for analytics.

How do you like Everyplay? I use something similar in some of my apps called Kamcord. Only problem is I got an email last week from Kamcord that they are discontinuing their service, and players will no longer be able to record videos only watch. So I'm thinking of switching to Everyplay. I don't use Unity though, I use libGDX. I notice their documentation has custom engine integration for only IOS, but under the sdk's it shows custom sdk for Android. So I guess I have to look into it more to see if it will work with libGDX.

I've been thinking about Kamcord in the past, but I went with Everyplay, since it was bought by unity (and I use unity).
It's ok, seems to work relatively good.
Don't know about other engines, but the plugin for unity is super easy to implement, pretty much one line for everything or ready to use prefabs (premade objects, like thumbnail button to view the video, that has random screenshots taken during gameplay as background).
